Steven Leon is currently Assistant General Manager with the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, MA. He recently served as Managing Director of the Everyman Theatre of Baltimore, and was Managing Director of ANTENNA, an experimental company based in Sausalito, CA from 1998 until 2004. Before that, he spent three years as Managing Director at the Pirate Playhouse on Florida’s Sanibel Island.
From 1988 until 1995 he was one of the leaders of the White River Theatre Festival of Vermont, a critically-acclaimed regional theatre he co-founded with Stephen Legawiec. The refurbished space was home to a wide variety of contemporary and classical offerings, including thirteen world premieres.
In addition to his administrative work, Steven has directed dozens of professional productions and designed the lighting for over eighty shows. He is the co-author of two full-length plays. He lived in Israel in the mid-80s where he spent three years farming grapes as a member of Kibbutz Mitzpeh Shalem. Steven graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in Theatre (Directing & Lighting Design) with the Class of 1980. He is married to artist Sarah Leon.
